Our Mission:

Most African girls never begin high school. Why?

Sometimes the reason is that another child, usually a boy, needs the limited family resources to support his education. In other cases, civil war has kept children from attending school.

Sometimes, as in the case of Alice Lasoi below, it’s so the girl can be married off to a man much older than herself.  Alice was taken from school in the 6th grade.

FEWA is working to make it possible for women like Alice to return to school and stay there, and for girls whose families can’t afford more than one child in school to keep their girls there.
